Michael Velten’s professional background is in private sector promotion and local economic development with more than 20 years of working experience in programmes of the Swiss and German Development Co-operation and multilateral agencies.
He has been engaged as project manager and programme director, advisor and consultant in Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Columbia, Peru, Bolivia, Rwanda and Burundi. His key competencies are in the fields of:
- Local economic development, value chains and sustainable resource management.
- Institutional development and capacity building for small and medium enterprises (associations, chambers, and cooperatives).
- Vocational training systems.
- Financial services (micro credits, guarantees).
