Description of the Project:
The joint Skat & Eawag/Sandec project aimed at capitalizing on research results in the field of environmental sanitation, in particular with regard to applying the method of material flow analysis as a tool for environmental sanitation planning.
Skat participated in the NCCR (National Centre of Competence in Research) North-South review workshop in February 2008 in Hanoi (presentation of research results on material flow analysis and urban agriculture, organization of a project field visit in Hanoi). Moreover, Skat prepared an NCCR synthesis publication on environmental sanitation (summarizing various case studies in Thailand, Vietnam, and China), and produced a publication (Material Flow Analysis Tool, incl. CD) to support planners and engineers applying the method of material flow analysis in the field of environmental sanitation planning.
