The main objective of developing a Master Plan for the next 5-10 years was to ensure that all the activities that are required for the 40-bedded hospital are ideally perceived from both the Royal government’s perspective, the realities on ground and the prospective donors perspectives.

Description of the Project:

The assignment included the development of a realistic and appropriate Master Plan of the District Hospital Bumthang which could stand out as an example or a useful model for other Dzongkhag hospitals wherever appropriate. All existing and future service lines and facilities had to be appropriately outlayed on the site plan and awareness among officials and stakeholders in the Dzongkhag created.

Main tasks were:

  • To conduct a comprehensive situation analysis of the existing infrastructures and service facilities in the hospital
  • To provide technical inputs and suggest strategies to address the identified gaps and constraints
  • To provide preliminary design options for a Mother& Child Clinic
  • To provide approximate cost estimates
  • To develop a Plan of Action for the next 5 to 10 years
