Implementing a technology transfer project, introducing energy efficient and environmentally friendly brick production technology to the Afghan brick sector.
Objective: To reduce CO2 emissions and to improve the working conditions within the building material industry and the construction sector of Afghanistan.
Activities: Demonstrating clean brick production and application methods (e.g. Vertical Brick Shaft Kiln (VSBK) technology) in Afghanistan and establishing the services for its dissemination
Results: Private Afghan brick entrepreneurs invest in a cleaner production technology and the construction sectors has access to environmentally friendly construction methods.
Skat provided the following services:
- Acquiring interested entrepreneurs and supporting them in business planning
- Establishing an expert service team for engineering and construction support
- Developing and promoting socially improved measures in the brick industry
- Legal support for entrepreneurs interested in shifting to cleaner technology
