Peace, governance, and equality: Inclusive and engaging learning events

SKAT introduces innovative methods ensuring every voice is heard and valued.

The Peace, Governance and Equality thematic section of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) addresses global challenges related to peace, good governance, anti-corruption efforts, gender equality, social inclusion and cultural development.

SKAT’s role within this mandate is to contribute methodological expertise to learning events organised by SDC –whether online, face-to-face or hybrid – by designing dynamic and inclusive processes that foster collective learning and meaningful engagement.

In 2024, SKAT facilitated two regional face-to-face learning events for SDC staff: one in Nairobi on strategic policy dialogue and another in Tirana on gender equality and social inclusion. We ensure that every learning space has a clear and shared purpose, a compelling invitation, and an engaging, inclusive and safe environment where everyone feels encouraged to speak up.

Participants particularly appreciated the highly interactive workshop design, the lively discussions and the way all participants were actively included in the learning process.

In 2025, SKAT organised, facilitated and led the Swiss Community of Practice on Political Economy Analysis (PEA),holding three online events, with more planned for 2026. These events focused on strengthening the practical relevance of PEA and exploring its links with conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding. They also addressed the question of how to move from analysis to action, and how to better anchor analysis in local knowledge and perspectives. SKAT also moderated the SDC Regional Workshop on Locally Led Cooperation, co-creating the face-to-face design, final programme and report.

SKAT brings extensive experience from a variety of projects and innovative approaches to this mandate, supported by its partners a-zimut, Learning Moments and Begegnungsreich.
