Since its establishment in 2014, the Geneva Water Hub (GWH) has been promoting the use of water as an instrument of peace and stability, based on an in-depth analysis of conflict dynamics and the networking of actors who can contribute to global change. Over 2017-2019 in particular, the GWH has consolidated its functions and strengthened its global recognition.
The Geneva Water Hub (GWH) was established by the Swiss Confederation and the University of Geneva as a research and policy institute for hydro-diplomacy. It initiated and steered the Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace and continues to further its offspring such as the Global Observatory on Water and Peace, the Geneva Principles on the Protection of Water Infrastructure, and the Geneva-based Group of Friends for Water and Peace. Across its research, training, policy endeavours, the GWH has ever since remained committed to the agendas of International Geneva: sustainable development, humanitarian aid, and peacebuilding. This commitment was to be taken to the heart of the GWH ProDoc Phase III.
