Services provided by Skat: Management of the Secretariat and the network; information desk on small hydro related topics in Switzerland for experts, privates, interested organisations etc..

Objective: Promotion of the SHP technology and improvement of existing small hydropower plants (from a technical, ecological and economic point of view); general information and awareness creation on small hydropower related topics and the relevance of the technology in Switzerland

Activities: Organisation of Board of Directors Meetings, the General Assembly and the annual SHP congress; organisation and facilitation of technical and economic trainings; cooperation with the Swiss Federal offices, the Cantons and communities; cooperation with partner organisations in the electricity sector (in particular renewables) to improve the effectiveness of the association’s work; public relations and work with media, publication of a magazine and a newsletter; operation of online platforms to market services and equipment. Support with regard to ecological rehabilitation, residual flow, property issues etc. “SHP information desk”: Independent information service for interested stakeholders like industry, planners, media and politics e.g. on technical, legal, regulatory and policy topics.
