How to reduce building sector emissions in China?
Through combined expertise, we strive to make an impact on the world’s largest building sector.
Since 2021, SKAT together with Intep - Integrated Planning has supported reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from China’s building sector through the Zero Emissions Building (ZEB) project. ZEB China has contributed to the new national zero emission building standards and has mobilised Swiss expertise, from industry and academia, to support development of eight ZEB certified demonstration projects in different climatic regions across China. The initiative is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
Working with Swiss and Chinese experts, the project has disseminated ZEB standards and solutions through studies, publications, training and events engaging Chinese authorities, professionals, educators and students. During 2025, efforts will focus on consolidation and communication of the wide range of demonstration and capacity building outputs in order to embed knowledge about zero emissions building solutions within the Chinese building sector towards the achievement of China’s national emissions reduction targets.
