This project is part of the third phase of the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN) Cost Effective Boreholes work – to support uptake of the Code of Practice.

Helvetas, the Swiss Red Cross and Swiss Solidarity took the initiative to reconstruct permanent houses in Thiraimadu, Batticaloa. Skat provided professional support in its design and planning, including training and capacity building.
Panichankerni Reconstruction Scheme
Sri Lanka | Building and Settlement
The project concentrated on the construction of 130 houses including basic infrastructure and community facilities in the fisher village of Panichankerni in the Vaharai area on the East Coast of Sri Lanka. The village is situated 60 km north of Batticaloa town and – until 2006 – at the border of the LTTE and government controlled area.
