Energy and climate
Energy drives economic development but the production of energy is often harming public health and the environment. Through holistic approaches, Skat interlinks climate protection, renewable energies, community empowerment and poverty reduction to facilitate equal access to environmentally sound energy technologies. By providing access to energy technologies we contribute to increasing employment in rural areas.
Skat links climate protection, renewable energies, community empowerment and poverty reduction through holistic approaches, which facilitate equal access to environmentally sound energy technologies, called for in SDG7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. We have specific expertise in efficient technologies (e.g. improved brick kilns), process optimisation, micro-hydropower and in retrofitting existing hydraulic structures, such as dams, weirs and water & wastewater infrastructure, with micro-turbines.
Our energy and climate experts host the secretariat of the association “Swiss Small Hydro” which provides guidance on legal frameworks, publishes regular developments in the areas of small hydropower and supports the exchange of experts in this area.
