Preparation and implementation of a 2-days workshop on operation and management strategies for hydropower systems
Detailed survey on operation and management problems of (big) hydropower plants (with reservoirs) in World Bank partner countries (Uganda, Rwanda / Burundi, Sao Tomé, Cameroon, Nepal) to prepare and implement a demand-oriented, strategic “Hydropower O&M Workshop HOW” on behalf of the World Bank Group and SECO. Workshop objectives: 1) strategy development based on an improved understanding of (pre-)conditions for a sustainable operation and management of the plants and 2) promotion of an exchange between hydropower owners and operators in developing and industrialised countries.

External Evaluation of the Energising Development Program EnDev
Energising Development Program EnDev is a 290 million Euro multi-donor program (start 2005) with currently about 18 million beneficiaries in 31 projects in 26 countries. The projects concern the support to improved cooking systems, off-grid solar technologies (SHS, pico PV), mini-grids (solar/hybrid or hydropower), grid extension and biogas. The review follows the OECD DAC criteria (relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, sustainability) including a) whether EnDev is on track regarding its objectives and attained results and b) how to further develop the programme (strategic development, design of follow-on measures)

The project “Evaluation of the cost structure of Small Hydropower Plants (SHP) in Switzerland” examined the produced reports, extracted relevant data and summarised them in an overview, which allows further analysis and data processing.
