Currently, there is no direct link between small-scale power generation and electric mobility. However, the demand for charging stations will increase sharply in the coming years. For small hydropower, this offers an opportunity to sell the electricity produced at attractive conditions. The project explores under which conditions small hydro and electric mobility can be linked and studies in detail several sites that can be used as examples in order to promote and create a platform for the potential sector in Switzerland.

The aim of the Scoping Study was to develop a proposal for a new Groundwater Management, Use and Protection Programme in North Macedonia through the process of co-creation with the relevant stakeholders. The intervention will have a 10-year planning horizon and fit within Switzerland’s Cooperation Programme in the country. It is expected to embrace a contemporary and holistic approach to groundwater management, encompassing all the functional requirements of regulation, stakeholder participation, monitoring, data management, planning, permitting, inspection as well as implementation and monitoring of measures in general. In particular, the new Programme will further the application and advancement of the Swiss-supported Groundwater Data Management System / National Register to grow as cooperatively nurtured and used tool for ex-changing, using, and managing groundwater-related data by all relevant actors and serving as reporting mechanism on groundwater status, pressures, and measures.

Swiss Small Hydro has been founded as ISKB in 1982 as a lobby organisation for independent power producers, most of them with Small hydropower Plants (SHP). Skat was member of the board and hosts since June 2013 the secretariat of the association, which is named “Swiss Small Hydro” since spring 2016. The association represents the interests of its about 400 members at political level, it cooperates with other organisations and is represented in various federal working groups. The SHP info service is closely related with the operation of the secretariat, and therefore Skat is also operating this service independently.

The Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar in May 2008, making landfall in the Ayeyarwady Division, approximately 250 km southwest of Yangon, and affecting more than 50 townships. On behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation – Humanitarian Aid, SKAT supported in project planning, the development of design options for child-friendly and storm-safe schools, and provided continuous backstopping services and construction quality controlling.

Through SDC's global programmes, Switzerland aims to establish universally recognised standards helping to resolve global challenges at the core of sustainable development. Against this backdrop, the Section Water (SW, former Global Programme Water - GPW) contributes to the reduction of global water-related risks and the realisation of a water-secure world. The SW acts as bridge builder, positions water issues on the international agenda, and harnesses Swiss expertise to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all: it triggers policy changes on all levels and influences the international normative framework as well as practices.
